It is a long bumpy, twisty drive into the third of the dams where the track begins. Youi can take the track throuh the bush or walk up the river valley which makes for better views of the surrounding hills on a sunny day!

Eventually you must surrender the open spaces and join the track which sidles along the river bank. There are a couple of swing bridges to navigate, as well as some steep bluffs on the eastern bank.

A river crossing awaits to cool you down, before you re-enter the bush which is dark and mossy. Just when it seems that the dark swampy track will never end, the roof of the hut appears out of nowhere.

The hut is positioned overlooking the river with a nice grassy front yard. Plenty of deer sign about and a couple of great swimming holes to leap into on the way back. Quite exhilarating to jump into in early October!
